Postpartum Doula

The first days, weeks or months are full of excitement and love with your new baby (or babies), but it can also a little challenging and sometimes just an overall difficult adjustment. Healing from birth, learning how to breastfeed, lack of sleep, plus everyday responsibilities on top of it all, may feel overwhelming. A postpartum doula will help you adjust to life with your new little one with as much rest, confidence and connection possible.

Postpartum support looks very different from family to family. Some families just want company and conversation, while others love help with baby and still others appreciate help with day to day household tasks. I’m happy to help with daytime, evening time or overnight support.

Some ways I can help as your postpartum doula:

  • I will come to your home and assist with caring for new baby and building confidence in bathing, changing, dressing, breast/bottle feeding, cord care, etc. I help families with multiples, colic/fussiness and preemies.
  • I will support mom with the emotional and physical recovery. Encouraging rest, nourishment and bonding time with baby.
  • I will support dad and older siblings thru this transition and help with understanding the “baby blues” and postpartum depression.
  • I will help with light housekeeping, so mom doesn’t feel overwhelmed, such as laundry, home upkeep and preparing meals. I can help with running errands, appointment accompaniment, sibling care and handling phone calls and visitors.
  • I will also provide referrals to local resources such as but not limited to parenting classes, pediatricians, lactation support and other parenting support groups.
